The National Bloc party was established in 1943 by president Emile Eddeh in a period of conflict with former president Bechara El Khoury. Upon his death in 1949 his son, Raymond Eddeh, succeeded Emile as the new head of the party. The party strongly opposed the civil war of 1975 and insisted on moderation and dialogue. Eddeh left Lebanon shortly after the start of the war, settled in Paris in self-imposed exile, and never participated in the Lebanese opposition set in France by Amin Gemayel, Michel Aoun, and Dory Chamoun. Eddeh also refused to participate in the post-Taef parliamentary elections and was in Paris until his death. The current dean of the party is Carlos Eddeh. SUBTITLES IN ENGLISH AND FRENCH. RUNNING TIME 180 MIN.
