The Lebanese Forces was established as an armed militia in 1977 when the Lebanese Front consolidated all Christian forces under one militia. Bachir Gemayel, leader of the Lebanese Forces, had a strong relationship with Israel and led the militia under the principle of "Lebanon as an independent entity" defining the enemy as the Syrians and the Palestinians. He was elected president of the republic in 1982 but was assasinated before taking office. Under Elie Hobeika, the Lebanese Forces participated in the tripartite agreement with Amal and the Progressive Party, leading to a revolt by Samir Geagea. The Lebanese Forces fought aggressively against Michel Aoun in what become known as the "elimination war", which almost destroyed both parties. After the end of the war, Samir Geagea was tried and convicted of crimes against humanity and was sentenced to death, later reduced to life in prison. The party was dissolved in 2001. SUBTITLES IN ENGLISH AND FRENCH. RUNNING TIME 83 MIN.
