Founded by Fouad Chemaly and Youssef Ibrahim Yazbeck, the Lebanese Communist Party was established as the "people's party" in 1922. In the beginning the party was known as the Syrian Communist Party and its activities were clandestine, making its first public appearance in 1925 when the leaders of the party were either exiled or persecuted. In 1930, Khaled Bekdache was elected secretary general and after the Lebanese independence in 1943, the party existed independently in both Lebanon and Syria. The party opposed the Egypt-Syria unification in 1958 which placed it in semi-isolation until it received its official license in 1970. The party aligned with the Fateh (Palestinian) movement led by Abu Ammar and participated in the national movement led by Kamal Junblat during the civil war. The party was a prominent member of the National Resistance Front after the Israeli invasion of 1982. SUBTITLES IN ENGLISH AND FRENCH. RUNNING TIME 180 MIN.
