One of the most popular and well known Oriental rug patterns, originally woven by the Turkomans in the area north of what is now Afghanistan, this pattern is recognized by the stylized ivory blossoms woven in an overall pattern on a luscious red field. The field is surrounded by several borders containing more stylized flowers. Myths describe the origin of the pattern to be stylized elephant feet.
