This is one of the most beautifully produced CDs. The instrumentation is sparse (oud, quanun, vocals and various percussion) but perfectly balanced. The vocals by Nouna el Hana are subtle and silky smooth, never forced or overmodulated. The instrumental passages tend to be improvisational and virtuosic, rather than strictly melodic, and gracefully pull back to reinforce rhythm or melody when Nouna's sensuous voice emerges. Most of the songs are mid-tempo and relaxed. Brilliant from beginning to end!
