This is one of my all time favorite CDs. For a long time I used to play it every night to go to sleep to. It's peaceful and reflective, although many of the songs have good tempo & rhythm. I've also successfully used a few of the tracks for dance performances. I would recommend this CD to dancer & non-dancer alike. The music is an exhilerating mix of old & new elements, spirtual & temporal. I must admit, I initially cursed the man who first introduced the synthesizer to Middle Eastern musicians. Omar Faruk music has proven to be an exception to my rule, the synthesizer is hardly noticable, and when I do hear it adds instead of detracts. He is truly a master of his musical forms. My husband, who tends to hate all my Middle Eastern Dance music CDs loves this CD. Omar Faruk truly sets himself apart from the crowd. The recording quality on this CD is also very good.
