The Taksim is the emotional and poetic improvised solo in Middle Eastern music, and Sadie explains the characteristics of a Taksim and the dancer's role in the performance. She also breaks down the structure of both the slow 8/4 and fast 4/4 versions of this popular rhythm. She also demonstrates how to execute many of the moves with fluidity and grace, along with the muscle control necessary for slow movements.
