Mahmoud Effat was the pre-eminent nay (ney) player of his time, first as a member of El Almasiya Orchestra and then eventually leading the group. During his long tenure, Effat accompanied some of the greatest Arab singers including Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Farid El Atrache, Abdel Halim Hafez, and many more. As a composer, his work was long a part of the popular television series Al 'Elm Wal Iman (Knowledge and Faith). This book is a translation of the original Oussoul Dirassat Al Nay. It includes a rigorous set of progressive exercises on how to play the Arabic "flute". The companion CD includes over fifty (50) exercises.
