Pakistan's Punjab province is home to the nation's biggest ethnic and linguistic group. Unlike Indian Punjabi music (better known as Bhangra), the folk songs of Pakistan's Punjab have been heavily influenced by Islamic and Sufi traditions. The music of the region rejoices in the paradoxical juxtaposition of ideas and is rich in metaphor and analogy often communicating a romantic "surface" meaning and a deeper spiritual meaning hidden in the beats and rhythm. The music is often loud, percussive, fast and exciting. DETAILS IN ENGLISH, FRENCH, GERMAN, AND SPANISH!
