Moroccan folk music, based on ancient repertoires, has resisted the influx of Western instruments, although it has assimilated influences from other Arab regions, as well as the rhythms of the Sahara (particularly the Gnaoua - a people of Bambara origin from the South Sahara) to create unique regional folk music with its own rhythm, percussion, and style. Chalf Hassan is a young musician from Morocco whose early training was first in religious music. His repertoire is conservative with compositions covering grand themes like love, piety, and spirituality, though his delivery is light-hearted and dynamic. His music is infused with many folk traditions, including Shaabi, and even Spanish music. A blend of contemporary and traditional Arabic instruments, including Oud (lute), Bendir (hand drum), Tabla, Bay (Arab bamboo flute) and others. DETAILS IN ENGLISH, FRENCH, GERMAN, AND SPANISH!
